Safety and privacy

What apps can do, and how to build and share them responsibly.

Build, share and install MIRA apps with the same care you’d give any app.

What an app can do

While it’s running, an app can:

  • Draw on your display and respond to your taps, swipes and head movement.
  • Read your battery level, the time and what’s playing, and control playback.
  • Send and receive data over the internet through your phone.
  • Receive audio from the glasses microphone and send it wherever its code says.
  • Store small amounts of data on your phone.

Keep secrets out

  • Never put passwords, API keys or other sensitive information in your prompts or in an app.
  • If your app talks to your own service, keep secret keys on your server, not in the app file.
  • Don’t keep passwords, tokens or personal data in companion storage.

Apps from other people

  • Only install apps from people you trust.
  • Before you add an app someone shared, review what it does. An AI assistant can explain a file’s phone code and what it sends over the network.
  • Take extra care with apps that use the microphone or the network.

The people around you

  • If your app listens or records, make that clear to the people around you, and follow the recording rules where you are.
  • Stop microphone capture as soon as your app no longer needs it.
